Over 50 companies representing Romania’s food industry at London International Food & Drink Event
Over 50 companies from the Romanian food and drink industry participated last week in the trade’s leading exhibition event – the International Food & Drink Event (IFE) in London, informs a release of the Association for the Promotion of Romanian Food (APAR) .
Romania participated in this landmark event with a range of products from the sectors of meat, bakery, pastry and confectionery, mineral water, tea, jams and honey, spices, wines, dairy products and vegetable oils.
„Despite the domestically and internationally troubled context because of food safety issues, I want to tell you that the talks we had with all our foreign partners who know the ins and outs of the food industry, showed that Romania has acted correctly and there is nothing to hold against it in this line. Moreover, the fact that for the first time in the last 20 years, the industry got the support of the political milieu, which has somewhat mitigated the effects of consumer distrust, was welcomed. Among the tasters of products there were also tabloid readers’ who were channeling press allegations, without actually knowing the subject, but they were not targeted by the Romanian delegation for potential business partnerships. Even if the visitor numbers were not as high as at Anuga and Sial, the results were above expectations, because these have been English-style meetings with a strong pragmatic character,” said APAR president Stefan Padure at the end of the event.
IFE 2013 ran over March 17 – 20, 2013 and drew about 30,000 visitors, of whom 4,000 foreigners. The „Meet the Buyer” program dedicated to B2B activities was also launched for the first time at this year’s edition.
In 2011 the Association for the Promotion of Romanian Food (APAR) posted a turnover of around one billion euros and comprised over 10,000 employees.
