The total volume of people’s deposits increased in February by 0.5 percent from the level at the end of January and amounted to 123.419 billion lei (almost 28 billion euros), say the data supplied by the National Bank of Romania.
From February 2012 till the end of the same month in 2013 the volume grew by 6.5 percent.
Of the more than 123 billion lei, about 23.187 billion lei are overnight deposits and more than 100.227 billion lei are term deposits.
During the same time span the deposits drawn from the nonfinancial companies went down by 1 percent to 58.919 billion lei, of which more than 29.267 billion lei were overnight deposits and 29.652 million lei, term deposits.
The deposits set up by the public administration grew in February to more than 40.902 billion lei, the total volume being by 7.1 larger than the one in late January.
