UK Ambassador deeply moved by Romania’s reaction to Margaret Thatcher’s death
British Ambassador in Bucharest Martin Harris on Wednesday said he was deeply moved by the reaction the death of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher caused in Romania, saying that she has been an exceptional Prime Minister who contributed to the struggle to free Europe of communism.
This is a sad period for Great Britain, because an exceptional Prime Minister has passed away. She intensely supported the forces of freedom in Romania and Eastern Europe in general. Therefore this is an important occasion to mark this extraordinary political life and celebrate freedom in Europe, Harris said at the Embassy’s seat in Bucharest.
Martin Harris said that those who wish to sign the Book of Condolences opened at the Embassy are invited to do so on Wednesday and Thursday.
In his opinion, Margaret Thatcher’s funeral will definitely be a national and international event.
Martin Harris welcomed the Romanian politicians who came to pay tribute and sign the Condolence Book opened in memory of the former British Prime Minister.
