Clinceni Airdrome (Ilfov County, south), this weekend, is the venue of the first edition of Romania’s hot air ballooning Cup, a contest organized by the Romanian Aeronautics Federation and Romania’s Air Club.
Presentation, registration and the general briefing are scheduled on Friday April 1, while the ballooning events are due on Saturday April 13, and on Sunday April 14. Balloons take off at about 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., if weather is fine, organizers inform in a release sent to Agerpres.
This is the first hot air ballooning event staged in Romania, and is aimed to the Romanian hot-air balloon pilots, the sports being relatively new in Romania. Access is free.
Fourteen hot air balloons and 12 licensed pilots are registered in Romania, and 6 balloons are enrolled to vie in the contest, so far.
As the balloons fly by the wind, emphasis is placed on the pilot’s ability to capitalize the air currents and take them as close as possible to the soil targets. The pilot landing closer to the target’s middle wins the best scores.
