The International Mathematical Olympiad could be organised in Bucharest in 2018 or 2020, according to a memorandum adopted in the Government meeting on Wednesday, July 10.
The memorandum adopted is concerned with the topic of ‘The Organisation of the International Mathematical Olympiad in Bucharest, in 2018 or 2020,’ the Government’s Press Office informed.
In 2020, the Romanian Olympic competitors conquered six medals – two gold, three silver and a bronze one – in the 53rd edition of the International Mathematical Olympiad carried out in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in the period July 4-16.
The competition this year gathered 548 competitors of 100 countries. In the nations’ off-the-record ranking, Romania took the first place in Europe and the tenth place worldwide.
