Out of this volume, 2.206 million tonnes of freight were shipped nationwide and 2.293 million tonnes were carried to other states, the rest representing transiting freight.
On the waterways, a volume of 2.714 million tonnes of freight was carried. The total number of ships having transited the Romanian waterways stood at 3,605, out of which 1,512 were foreign ships.
As far as passengers are concerned, in the first three months into 2013, a number of 26,000 persons were carried on the Danube.
The Danube on the Romanian territory measures 1,075 kilometres and its arms’ length accounts for 524 kilometres. (National News Agency AGERPRES)
