BOR Patriarch offers condolences to victims of railway accident in Spain
The Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR), Daniel, sent on Thursday a message of sympathy and condolences for the victims of the railway accident in Spain to Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela, Archbishop of Madrid and President of the Spanish Episcopal Conference.
„In these testing times for many Spanish families, on behalf of the clergy and Romanian Orthodox Church believers, we express our sympathy and solidarity with all those who have suffered and we pray to God to rest the souls of those who lost their life and to alleviate the suffering”, said the Patriarch in the message remitted to AGERPRES by the press office of the Romanian Patriarchate.
In solidarity with the Spanish people, tried hard these days, on Sunday, July 28, 2013, in all the churches and monasteries of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of Spain and Portugal prayers will be uttered for the rest in peace of the souls of those who passed away into eternity, the message also reads.
Patriarch Daniel expressed his „belief that, in these sad moments in the life of the Spanish people, the faith in God and people’s solidarity are very helpful”.
The Patriarch of the Orthodox Church also sent a similar message of sympathy and condolences to the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy. (National News Agency AGERPRES)
