Scorching heat code orange advisories Monday, Tuesday issued for eight southern, western counties

The National Weather Administration (ANM) issued code orange of scorching heat advisories valid Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30 for eight counties in southern and western Romania.

ANM warns that the scorching hot weather will intensify in the western counties of Arad, Timis and Caras-Severin as well as the southern counties of Mehedinti, Dolj and Olt , with highs expected to reach 39-40 degrees Celsius. Thermal discomfort is expected to worsen, with the temperature-humidity index expected to exceed the critical threshold of 80.

The code yellow advisory of heat will stay in force on Monday in southern, western and central Romania. Temperatures there should hover around 36-38 degrees Celsius, with the temperature-humidity index expected to exceed the critical threshold of 80.

On Tuesday, code orange will be in force in the southern counties of Olt, Teleorman and Giurgiu, where sizzling heat is expected to intensify to highs of 39-40 degrees Celsius. Thermal discomfort is expected to worsen, with the temperature-humidity index expected to exceed the critical threshold of 80.

Also on Tuesday, the code yellow advisory will stay in force in southern and south-eastern counties, with highs expected to reach 36-38 degrees Celsius. Thermal discomfort is expected to worsen, with the temperature-humidity index expected to exceed the critical threshold of 80.

The weathermen are also warning that starting on Tuesday weather instability will become increasingly more frequent, with winds picking up in the evening and at night, accompanied by thunderstorms, and even torrential showers that will hurl down 25-30 l per square metre and even hail.(National News Agency AGERPRES)
