Superkombat: Spectacular victory for Romanian Benjamin Adegbuyi in front of Ishmael Londt, in Suriname
Romanian of Nigerian origin Benjamin Adegbuyi managed one of the biggest surprises of the summer in the world of martial arts after defeating, on Thursday evening, Surinamese Ismael Londt, the Superkombat heavyweight champion and also en titre runner-up of K-1 circuit, in a match that took place right in this one’s hometown, Paramaribo (Suriname).
Starting from the position of challenger, the sportsman from Cluj-Napoca (426 km north-west of Bucharest) managed to impress in the very first round when, after a punch, Londt hit the floor for the first time and the referee did not penalize the Surinamese. More precise and aggressive with his punches, the student of Alin Panaite from Respect Gym Bucharest continued to dominate the fight until the end, the K-1 finalist being finally counted down in the third round, after the Romanian countered again with a devastating left hand punch. All three judging referees declared Adegbuyi a winner, who as such obtains the 13th success in his professional wrestling career, according to a press release.
Discovered by promoter Eduard Irimia during a Superkombat Selection Gala, three years ago, Adegbuyi is considered one of the most promising fighters in the world at heavyweight, last year reaching the 8th position in the LiverKick top, the best known international specialized site.
Aged 28, the sportsman, at 1.98 meter and 120 kilograms, is half Nigerian, after his father, a descendant of the Yoruba tribe, the same as footballer Emmanuel Adebayor and artist D’Banj.
