Belgian Ambassador Beke: Tulcea, one of Romania’s most sensational counties
I think Tulcea is one of the most sensational counties as regards nature and historical heritage, Belgian Ambassador to Romania Philippe Beke, who is these days visiting the Danube Delta – eastern Tulcea County, declared on Friday.
I already had the opportunity to visit several localities in the Danube Delta, but this is so large that I gladly return here to rediscover Sfantu Gheorghe, which hosts the Anonimul independent film festival, the Murighiol village that has grown into a genuine center of the Delta, and Sulina, a town not only with historical references, but also with a future in tourism, Ambassador Philippe Beke told.
I am convinced that tourism in Romania stands to gain from further developing programs for this county and the seaside resorts (Constanta County – Editor’s note), but also for the town of Babadag, which has historic buildings that need to be developed. This mix of nature, beach, leisure sites and areas with a historic value is the opportunity I seek whenever I come back to Tulcea County, said the Ambassador of Belgium.
Philippe Beke met on Friday with county authorities and visited the mosque in the town of Babadag, built in 1609, one of the oldest Islamic architecture monuments in Romania. The Ambassador then visited the Ibida Fortress in the Slava Rusa community.
