Romanian online retail goes up 141 pct., in first seven months of 2013
Sales in the Romanian online retail went up 141 percent and the average basket value amounted to 45 euros, in the first seven months of 2013, by 30.76 percent lower than that of the same time span of 2012, informs PayU online payments leaders report.
Thus, the 141 percent growth over Jan-July 2013 was mainly thanks to the Fashion segment, which continues to top at a 450 percent growth compared to last year. Likewise, IT&C and gift segments scored positive results of 83 percent and 70 percent, respectively.
According to the above-mentioned source, the average purchase basket was worth 45 euros, during the first seven months of the year, than 65 euros (minus 30.76 percent), one year before.
The report was drawn up based on the assessment of the total value of the products ordered in the retail stores cooperating with PayU. Retail stores sell books, electronic and household products, IT&C, flowers, toys, gifts, ready-mades, as ell as many other products.
PayU supplies integrated eCommerce solutions, and is owned by Naspers Ltd.,a multinational group operational in 131 countries, in fields like media, Internet, or eCommerce.
In Romania, the Company tops the online payments market, with over 2.8 million processed transactions in 2012, amounting to 176.4 million euros and a 80 pct quota of Romania’s total volume.
