Basescu: May this feast bring us serenity, hope; sincere good health wishes to all Romanians
President Traian Basescu on Thursday sent a message to all the Romanians celebrating the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Romanian Navy’s Day and he sent them his warmest thoughts and sincere wishes for health and joy by the side of their beloved ones.
‘I wish, on this day when we celebrate The Assumption of the Virgin Mary and also the Romanian Navy’s Day, to send all the Romanians my warmest thoughts and sincere wishes for good health and joy by the side of their beloved ones. We celebrate the Romanian Navy’s Day, a day with special significance for all the sailors serving the country on the ships sailing under Romanian flag and for those working in our ports, an occasion on which I thank them all for the devotion and professionalism they prove every day’, the president’s message says.
The Orthodox and Roman Catholic Christians on Thursday celebrate the feast of The Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the day when, according to the Christian tradition, Virgin Mary was taken up into Heaven at the end of her earthly life.
‘I equally want to express my thanks to all the military carrying out activity in the service of the Romanian Naval Forces for the devotion and courage they prove in the missions having been entrusted them. May this feast day bring us serenity and hope! A happy celebration day, sailors!’, Basescu, a former ship captain, said in his message.
