The Annual Meeting of Romanian Diplomacy, organised by the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), takes place Tuesday through Thursday in Bucharest, the event being a good occasion for assessing the diplomatic activity carried out over the past year and for establishing the main medium and long-term action directions.
According to MAE, Government and Parliament members, Presidential Administration representatives, Romania’s diplomatic mission chiefs, consuls general, directors of Romanian cultural institutes, representatives of the foreign Diplomatic Corps accredited in Bucharest, civil society, academic and business environment and media representatives will participate in the official opening of the event.
The meeting this year has as special guests Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linas Antanas Linkevicius, whose country holds EU’s rotating presidency, and the Republic of Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman.
Among the topics to be approached within the topical working sessions there are the European affairs, the Eastern neighbourhood, the security challenges and the impact on Romania’s foreign policy, Romania’s relations with global players in the Asia- Pacific, Latin America, Africa and Middle East areas, modalities of supporting the Romanian communities abroad, the economic diplomacy, the cultural diplomacy, etc.

At the same time, the Meeting of Romanian Diplomacy represents the occasion for a deep assessment of the activity of the Romanian diplomacy, but also of the difficulties and challenges the Romanian diplomatic corps is confronted with, also taking into account the transformations on the international stage and the economic developments in Europe and worldwide,’ Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Titus Corlatean said.(Agenţia Naţională de Presă AGERPRES)
