Minister Constantin Nita: Draft law on electricity stipulates creation of gas exchange
The draft amendment to the law on electricity will be sent to Parliament in October containing proposal to create a gas exchange, Minister Delegate for Energy Constantin Nita told the Bucharest Forum 2013 hosted by the Parliament on Thursday.
This will change the approach regarding the sale of natural gas on the Romanian market, which market has two main players – Petrom and Romgaz, and it will also offer the possibility to other producers from other states to come and negotiate the sale of natural gas on the Romanian market’, said Minister Constantin Nita.
‘We must open this sector and open the Romanian companies to receive private capital’, the Minister added.
Nita also said that the ambition of the Romanian authorities is the country to become like an energy hub and OPCOM to become a regional energy exchange.
