Taxation motion defeated by Chamber of Deputies

A motion on „Taxation to the Very End. The USL Wants You Poor” tabled by the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) and the Dan Diaconescu People’s Party (PP-DD) was defeated by the Chamber of Deputies by 55 votes to 210 and 10 abstentions.

The vote was by a show of hands, given that the voting system failed to operate, according to the sitting chairman Viorel Hrebenciuc.

The motion text said „there is an economic blockage of utmost seriousness following the wrong governing decisions made by the Social Liberal Union (USL, the ruling alliance) and the lack of measures aimed to bring about a recovery of the business climate or create jobs”.

Furthermore, the PDL and the PP-DD were demanding the Government „to immediately withdraw the 2014 draft budget, put an end to the theft of public money and make all the expenditure and revenues of the central and local budget transparent”.
