Arad-Szeged gas pipe, operational by year-end

A natural gas transportation pipe between the Romanian town of Arad and Szeged, in Hungary, will be operational by year-end.

The pipe is worth over 68 million lei (about 14 million euros), Iona Parvu, manager of SC Amarad SA Arad , the general entrepreneur of the construction works announced.
The pipe is 109 kilometers long of which 62 on Romanian soil and has a maximum capacity o 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The pipe will connect the Romanian National Transportation System to the western system of gas transport that will ensure Romania‘s independency as regards natural gas supplies.
The pipe’s interconnection will be made in the village of Horia, in Arad county and in the Hungarian village of Algyo, in the Csongrad county.
