The National Administration of Meteorology (ANM) has issued on Tuesday a Yellow Code alert of atmospheric instability and thermal discomfort, valid over Aug 17, 12.00 a.m. – Aug 18, 6.00 a.m. local time.
According to ANM webpage, heavy rains sometimes with torrential character, frequent lightning and storms are expected in eastern Transylvania (central), the northern half of Moldavia (east) and the Eastern Carpathian area (east). Rains exceeding 30-40 l/sqm and hail are also forecast.
Such phenomena will occur but scarcely in the other Moldavian areas, in Muntenia (south) and Dobrogeaa (south-east). ANM stressed that in the southern and eastern regions, the weather will continue to be hot, even scorching with temperatures higher than 35-36 degrees Celsius and the thermal disconfort indicator will exceed the critical threshold of 80.
