IMF review and technical assiatnec mission to come to Bucharest in three weeks’ time
‘The next review mission, headed by Jeffry Franks (IMF Mission Chief for Romania), is scheduled to visit Bucharest during the period July 26 to August 4, 2010. Subject to completion of the fifth review by the IMF’s Executive Board, the sixth disbursement (SDR 769 million or about 900 billion euros) will become available after two working days.
The IMF visit will take place jointly with teams from the European Commission and the World Bank,’ IMF’s Regional Resident Representative in Romania and Bulgaria, Tonny Lybek reported on Monday. „The IMF review mission will evaluate Romania‘s recent economic performance and will discuss with the authorities the economic objectives for the coming year, including the 2010 budget, along with the policy measures and structural reforms needed to reach those objectives.
The mission will also meet with representatives of political parties, unions, business associations, banks, and representatives from civil society organizations. The mission will disseminate its conclusions at the end of the visit.’
‘At the request of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF)—within the Ministry of Public Finance—a technical assistance mission from the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) will visit Bucharest during the period July 14 to 28, to work with ANAF experts and advise on measures to improve revenue collection.
The team headed by Thomas Martin Story, FAD Technical Assistance Advisor, will review the status of recommendations made by a similar team last year, as well as advise ANAF on ways to better use information technology,’ the IMF reported in a press release on Monday.
