PSD National Executive Committee calls National Council meeting on Oct. 16
The Social Democratic Party’s (PSD, in opposition) National Executive Committee at a meeting on Thursday approved party leader Victor Ponta’s proposal to call a meeting of the party’s National Council on Oct. 16.
Ponta stressed it is very important that ‘all the party internal elections’ end at the National Council meeting, so that there may be no further discussions with respect to the positions in the party. ‘I propose you to modify the party’s statutes on October 16, to adopt the governing and action programme for 2011-2012’, Ponta said.
The Social Democratic chairman explained that the PSD priorities in the upcoming period are to remove the current Government from power, to protect the electorate, to complete the ruling programme, to strengthen the social democratic organisations and to look for the party’s future candidates in the local elections.
