Red Code on Prut is extended until Friday

The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) extended the Red Code and Yellow Code flood warnings on the Prut River (eastern Romania) till Friday.

According to a press release posted on the institution’s website on Tuesday, over July 13, 1 p.m. – July 16, 1 p.m., the Red Code flood alert is maintained on the Prut River – in the sector Stanca downstream – the Danube, affecting Botosani, Iasi, Vaslui and Galati Counties (located northeastern and eastern Romania). During the same period of time, hydrologists keep the Yellow Code floods alert in force, too, on Jijia River, at Chiperesti, in Iasi County.

Given the present hydrological and meteorological situation, as well as the weather forecast for the next 24 hours, the river level remains above the danger and attention levels, because of the propagation of previous flash floods and possible important water discharge on mountainside, streams, creeks which result in local floods.
