Corlatean to participate in EU-Africa Ministerial Meeting

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Titus Corlatean, on Tuesday participates in the EU-Africa Ministerial Meeting, which is held in Brussels ahead of the European Union-Africa Summit scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

The diplomatic office in Bucharest informed, in a press release, that the meeting, to be co-presided by the High representative of the EU, Catherine Ashton, and by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mauritania, Ahmed Ould Teguedi, will focus mainly on aspects related to peace and security, but it will also address cooperation between EU and Africa in conflict prevention, peacekeeping operations, as well as in looking for new ways of giving a rapid response to crises.

Moreover, the ministers will endorse the documents to be adopted at the Summit of the heads of state and government, namely the Declaration of the Summit and the Action Plan for 2014-2017, said the abovementioned source.

The EU-Africa Summit organised in Brussels on April 2 and 3, under the title ‘Investing in People, Prosperity and Peace’ is the 4th of its kind, after the previous meetings in Cairo-2000, Lisbon-2007 and Tripoli-2010.
