The Danube River on Wednesday rose above the danger levels at the measuring stations of Calafat and Bechet, the southern Dolj county by 22 centimetres and 14 cm respectively; the river flooded a county road and more than 1,500 hectares of pasture land and forests as well as the ports of Calafat and Bechet.
The Danube waters passed the flooding levels by 12 cm at Calarasi (southeastern Romania), with the flow at 13,340 cubic metres per second. Some 11,000 hectares of riverside forests, 600 hectares of pastures and 40 hectares of arable land were flooded in Calarasi county.
In the southern Corabia riverside town the Danube reached 634 cm, thus exceeding the danger levels by 34 cm; in Giurgiu county, the Danube submerged 4,170 hectares of land nearby the river banks, after the river waters rose to 677 cm at the port of Giurgiu, by 37 cm above the flooding levels. The Danube reached 658 cm at Turnu Magurele port, by 8 cm above the danger level and by 106 cm above the flooding level. The Danube also continued to swell at Zimnicea, where it passed the flooding level by 88 cm.
