Flat-screen TV sales, 60 pct increase in Romania, in June

Flat-screen TV sales advanced in Romania, in June, 60 percent from the same month a year earlier, whereas these products retail growth rate is estimated at 5-10 percent by the end of 2010, reveals market research GfK Weekly Monitor, conducted by GfK Co. and released on Thursday.

According to the quoted source, in the second quarter of 2010 both producers and retailers took advantage of events as the World Football Championship and VAT increase to 24 percent in order to boost their sales.
As such, at the level of the entire electronic products sector, the increase of 1.3 percent, even not a spectacular one, indicates once again the promotional activities success when TV products are in question.

GfK Temax study indicates that the highest sales in the electronic products category were registered by the flat-screen TV sets and overall sales are expected to slightly exceed the volume in 2009, with an increase of 5-10 percent. Per total, the performance on the LCD TV sets market, in June 2010, was 60 percent better than the one registered in the same month the previous year.
