One killed, 85 localities afflicted in latest floods
One person died in Vrancea (northeast of Bucharest), another was reported missing in Bacau County (east), and 85 localities in 20 counties (out of 40 – editor’s note) were afflicted in the floods, over the last two days, Minister of Administration and Interior Vasile Blaga told a videoconference with the prefects, on Sunday.
As many as 503 people were evacuated and 660 households were flooded, Minister Blaga pointed out. Likewise, heavy rains flooded 740 dwellings and 4 social economic objectives, 4 national, 10 county and 26 village roads, along with 107 ha pastures, 3,140 ha forests and 791 ha cropland, 13 bridges, 24 footbridges and 220 wells.
At the same time, 15 localities of two counties, more exactly 13 in Cluj County, and two in Harghita County (both north west of Bucharest) had electricity supply problems, on Sunday, in the morning.
The worst affected by the floods, over the past two days, were the countries such as Bacau, where the heavy rains caused havoc on 28 localities, while the traffic was disrupted over the Paranga¬Times sector, and Braila Country (east), where 100 people were evacuated from two blocks of social flats, Minister Blaga concluded.
