Over 6,300 calls for emergency medical services because of excessive heat
A number of 6,395 calls were made in the past 24 hours to the Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication and the ambulance, a number that is by 8-10 percent above the normal average value, Minister of Health Attila Czeke told a news conference on Wednesday.
According to him, 44 people fell to the ground in the street because of lipothymia, syncopes and respiratory disorders. Undersecretary of State with the Ministry of Health Raed Arafat recommended businesses to adjust the working programme for people working in the open or in closed spaces, where it is very hot. In Romania, since the end of July, there has been much heat, 35 degrees, and much humidity, which affects the population especially in the very crowded urban areas.
