PSD leaders decide to challenge special pensions bill in Constitutional Court

The National Standing Bureau (BPN) of the Social Democratic Party (PSD, in the opposition) on Monday approved the decision the Social-Democrats had announced the week before, to challenge in the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) the second bill the government assumed responsibility for, that regarding special pensions.

It is totally unacceptable to require the cut of the pensions of all military servicemen, police, diplomats, of all magistrates and airmen,” PSD chairman Victor Ponta argued at the end of the BPN meeting.
According to him, the correct solution PSD has suggested „and which the Boc government refuses to accept out of stubbornness and irresponsibility, is the differentiated taxation in such a way that excessively high pensions be reduced in a constitutional manner in the first place, and in the second place, by proving respect and recognition for the work of these categories.”
