The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has updated the Code Yellow advisory for Wednesday, when the weather is expected to be hot, even scorching in the afternoon, in large areas of Moldova, Muntenia and continental zone of Dobrogea, while the thermal comfort index (ITU) will hit and pass the critical 80-unit threshold.
In these regions, the maximum temperature is to soar to 35 degrees Celsius and isolated to 36- 37 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday as well, the atmospheric instability will increase gradually accompanied by showers, lightning, strong gusts of wind that can turn into stormy weather, with isolated hail storms in Banat (west), Crisana (west), Maramures (north), Transilvania (center), Oltenia (south), northern parts of Moldova and mountain zones. ANM also announced that the rainfall will be torrential in some areas, with rates that might locally exceed 20 liters per square meter and isolated even 40 liters per square meter.
