Boc: Gov’t cuts number of state secretaries and under prefects
The Government is cutting the number of state secretaries from the current 50 to 32, and the number of under prefects is to be halved, Prime Minister Emil Boc said at the end of the Government meeting on Wednesday.
According to Boc, the ministries will usually have two state secretaries at most, except for the Ministry of Administration and Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Finance, which will have three state secretaries at most. „We have decided to have two state secretaries at ministry level, as a general rule, except for the Ministry of Administration and Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Finance, where there are to be three state secretaries.
Until next Wednesday, the ministers are to come to the Government with their rosters drawn up”, said Boc. At present, the Government has 57 state secretary positions, of which 50 are occupied, and as a result of the cuts there will remain 32 state secretaries, he stated. The Prime Minister said that state secretaries made redundant will not go to the civil service. Also, the Ministry of Administration and Interior will cut the number of under prefects from the current two for each prefecture to one.
