„The National Union of Students in Romania (UNSR) decided to launch major protests in all university centres, starting on Monday, May 10, as following the refusal of the Minister of Education, Petre Funeriu, to sign the Protocol with the Federation. The Protocol included such demands of the students related to camps, scholarships, loans, as well as referring to the modalities of cooperation between the Ministry and the students’ associations,’ the leader of the organisation Ionut Poenaru told on Sunday.
„Given that from the last official meeting between Minister Funeriu and the UNSR leadership, which took place on March 16, there have passed more than 50 days, UNSR considering thus that MECTS broke its promises, following which the Federation suspended the protests in March, we are going to launch new protests,’ said Ionut Poenaru.
UNSR will start on Monday, May 10, major protests in 12 university centres: in Craiova, Iasi, Bacau, Timisoara, Resita, Brasov, Galati, Petrosani, Ploiesti, Târgoviste, Targu Jiu, and in Bucharest, on a daily basis, in front of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport Minister, calling for the resignation of Petre-Daniel Funeriu.
