ANI law does not get necessary votes to be adopted by Chamber of Deputies

The draft law on the National Integrity Agency (ANI) did not get the necessary number of votes to be adopted by the Chamber of Deputies. One hundred and fifty-one deputies voted for it, two, against and 49 abstained.from voting. The draft law should have been voted for by at least 167 persons to be adopted.

Liberal Tudor Chiuariu and independent Constantin Mazilu voted against it. The legal commission of the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday adopted a favourable report, with amendments, on the new ANI draft law. The decision referring to the draft law initiated by the Government was made by a vote of 15 and 5 abstentions. The most important amendments of the commission refer changing the procedures of appointing the ANI managers and to sanctions.
