Senators approve military staff retirement age at 55

The Senate Plenum approved the retirement age for the military staff at 55 during the Wednesday sitting. According to the amendment senators voted, for the acting military staff, the police officers and special statute civil servants in the penitentiary administration system, the national defense, and public order and security sectors the standard retirement age is 55, for both men and women.

The amendment also sets the minimum interval of paying the contributions at 15 years and the complete interval of paying the contributions at 25 years. In the draft law on the unified public pension system, the standard retirement age for the above-mentioned categories was 60 years, the minimum interval of paying contributions – 20 years, and the complete interval of paying the contributions – 30 years. On Wednesday, the senators continued the debate on the draft law regarding the unified public pension system, and the final vote will be given in the plenary session on Monday, May 10, so that the tacit approval procedure should be avoided.
